Cross Reference

How to use Cross Reference to map competitor or customer SKUs to your product catalog, review matches, and approve in bulk.

What Cross Reference does

Cross Reference is a matching engine that maps competitor or customer SKUs to products in your catalog. When a customer sends over their own part numbers, Cross Reference finds the corresponding items you carry — so your team can quote faster with fewer manual lookups.

The Cross Reference workflow

Go to Cross reference in the left navigation. The page shows all your cross reference jobs — active and completed.

Starting a job

Upload a file containing the SKUs you want to match. Cross Reference processes the file and returns proposed matches from your catalog, each assigned a confidence level: High, Medium, or Low.

Reviewing matches

Open a job to enter the review table. The summary widget at the top shows how many items fall into each confidence tier and how many are still pending review — so you know what you're working with before you dive into the rows.

Sort and filter the table by Confidence level or Match type to work through matches systematically.

Approving matches

For high-confidence matches, select multiple rows and click Approve to bulk-approve them in one action. You don't need to review each row individually.

For lower-confidence matches or rows where the match type looks off, review the suggestion and override it manually. Click the match type field on any row to change it.

Marking a job complete

When you've finished reviewing a job, mark it as Complete. Completed jobs move out of your active view so your workspace stays focused on what still needs attention.

Note: Cross Reference is available to Admin users as a Proton add-on (additional cost). If you'd like to get started or want to learn more about improving quoting and ordering speed, reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Bulk Confidence Review

You can now bulk-review products by confidence tier. Select multiple products from the cross-reference table and apply a review action to all of them at once — speeding up large cross-reference jobs significantly.

Audit Trail

Every action taken in a cross-reference job is now logged in the Audit Trail. The audit trail records who made each change, what they changed, and when — giving teams full visibility into the review history. Access the audit trail from the cross-reference job detail view.

View Preference (List / Card)

Your preferred view — list or card — is now saved per user. Proton remembers your last-used view across sessions so you don't need to switch every time you open a cross-reference job.
